    Plot Outline: A newspaper editor uses every trick in the book to keep his ace reporter ex-wife from remarrying.
    Plot: Hildy Johnson has divorced Walter Burns and visits his office to tell him that she is engaged to another man and that they are going to get married the day after. Walter Burns cant let that happen and frames the other man, Bruce Baldwin, for a lot of stuff getting him into trouble all the time, while he tries to steer Hildy back into her old job as his employee (editor of his newspaper).

    Continuity: Hildy wears black heels throughout the movie but when Earl Williams is hidden in the desk, she is pacing behind the table and is wearing white flats. The next time her feet are shown, she is wearing the black heels again.

    • Walter Burns (Cary Grant) refers to some horrible fate suffered by the last person who crossed him: Archie Leach. Grants real name was Archibald Leach and he ad-libbed the line. See also Arsenic and Old Lace (1944).
    • When Earl Williams tries to get out of the roll-top desk, Burns (Cary Grant) says: "Get back in there, you Mock Turtle". Grant played the Mock Turtle in Alice in Wonderland (1933).
